Bad News For Mortal Kombat X PC Owners!!

It seemed apparent from the start that PC was not getting much inclusion when it came to the recent announced updates that Mortal Kombat X was receiving.

At the time when they rolled out the news for their enhanced online beta,  only the Xbox One and  Playstation 4 were mentioned. Then today, XL was announced but no mention of a PC release as well.

Unfortunately, these two revelations spoke to the possible future of Mortal Kombat X on PC and with community specialist Tyler Lansdown making an official confirmation on fan site Test Your Might things are morbidly clear.

“Mortal Kombat XL and Kombat Pack 2 will [be] available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One only.”

Despite Mortal Kombat X PC selling close to an estimated 500k (information found on Steamspy)worth of copies on Steam it would seem the support for MKX on the PC is at an impasse.

These issues with the PC version of MKX  started brewing back when all three versions received a simultaneous release. We would later come to learn that a great deal of the PC development was outsourced to High Voltage Studios the company responsible for porting both MK9 and Injustice to PC.

While both titles received very positive feedback, many sited an issue in frame drops during gameplay. These same issues would also find their way onto MKX and would create mixed reviews with some saying the games problems were fixed and others saying they were not.

Mortal Kombat X has not been the only game under publisher Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment to go under scrutiny for its PC port. The recent Batman Arkhum Knight was taken down after receiving several reports of various issues. Even after the game re-released months later, many still reported issues, and were given the option of receiving refunds as a result.

There is no telling right now whether there will be a redemption for Mortal Kombat X on PC going into future. For now, we can only look at this as a huge disappointment for PC owners and a missed opportunity for NRS and WBIE.

While this feels like a pretty big blow to the PC fighting game community, all isn’t lost as there will be many big titles just around the corner this year so it is really the two companies loss in the end.
