What Can We Expect At E3 For Fighting Games?!!

Update 6/8/2016 4:48pm- Due to technical difficulties our post has been slightly altered from its original. As a result, certain points may be a bit different then they were before.

E3 is almost upon us and we here at Fighting Games Online are curious as many are about the news that will be unveiled during next week.

Since our guess is as good as any, we’ve come up with a few possible surprises that may come to this years E3!!

Injustice 2

Injustice 2 is our most confident guess for announcements this year and for good reason. There have already been a ton of rumors surfacing about this  title being revealed at E3 for one. In addition to this fact, the teaser king Ed Boon has changed his profile picture on twitter with a black back ground and what looks to be the roman numeral two in front.

While he has teased the possibility of a Mortal Kombat 11, were guessing that the support for Mortal Kombat X is far from over. Which brings us to our next guess for this E3!!

Kombat Pack 3

This one feels more like a shot in the dark but during a recent poll made by Ed Boon, fans voted for another Kombat Pack 3 and it won over a new Mortal Kombat. That to us speaks volumes about how bad fans want to see more characters join Mortal Kombat X, a title which Ed Boon has gone on record to say will have the biggest cast to date of any in the franchise.

Because they have yet to make good on this promise, we know there is more to come for MKX but we’re just not sure they are ready to give us the goods.

While we expect there to be some juicy details coming out of the Nether Realms camp at E3, it’s imperative that we mention the MKX Pro League finals happening this weekend on June 12th. A big surprise may just surface from this event and being that its right before E3 we recommend you don’t miss it!!

Tekken 7 Fated Retribution Release Date

Last year at E3, Bandai Namco revealed a new update to Tekken 7 that would officially find its way to home console during the Sony press conference. Since then, there has been no word of a release date for this highly anticipated title.

Our guess is a release date will finally be announced and maybe even a little extra. While it has been confirmed that it will release for the Playstation 4 and the Xbox One, there has been no confirmation about a PC/Steam release.

Many sources have eluded to PC being a possibility but nothing has been set in stone. This could possibly be the time that PC gamers get an answer.

Street Fighter V

With an already announced Story Mode and the latest DLC character Ibuki on the way at the end of the month, this would be a great opportunity for Capcom to give fans of the franchise more to look forward to.

We expect another DLC reveal to make an appearance but we hope for a small glimpse into the future for their plans going into 2017.  With the Playstation Experience happening towards the end of the year, they may just hold off on big announcements though one can hope they’ll raise eyebrows none the less.

SNK Classic Announcement For The Playstation Network

With The Last Blade 2 now out their in the wild, there is a good possibility SNK may bring another classic to the Playstation. While we expect that The King Of Fighters XIV will be there in some sort of capacity, there has been speculation about SNK’s continuing relationship with Sony and now would be as good a time as any to announce another classic title on its way to the PSN.

Final Fantasy Dissidia Console Announcement

While we expect Square-Enix will have a pretty big focus on the RPG  genre when it comes to the Final Fantasy franchise at E3, they might just go all out and announce a possible release for Dissidia on console.

Originally released for the Arcade back in November, Dissidia’s hardware is in fact a modified version of the Playstation 4 and as such, we’ve anticipated the arrival of this title to the actual console at some point. While it’s been mentioned before that it would be at least a year, before they even considered bringing it to console, it doesn’t hurt to at least mention this as a possibility.

A New Super Smash Bros.

There have been many rumors that have surfaced about Nintendo’s new gaming system. One of the biggest rumors that come of this news had to do with a new Super Smash Bros. being a possible flagship title.

If Nintendo does plan to unveil their new system during E3, we may just get a small teaser for a new Super Smash Bros. title in development.

Virtua Fighter 6 Announced

The possibility of a new Virtua Fighter title being announced by Sega is just wishful thinking at this point. Sega has been pretty mute about anything having to do with the series which has definitely been missing in action in this current generation.

None the less this would be a pleasant surprise if Sega were to announce a new title during E3.

Well that is as far as we are willing to go with the E3 2017 predictions. We do hope that there will be some big announcements for fighting games this year and we will definitely keep you posted as the reveals come in!!
