It’s time to say good bye…
Hello folks,
Some of you may remember…or have seen the previous post about FGO shutting down for good last year. At that time, I was fortunate to get the website back up after getting some funds but the same thing is unfortunately not going to happen this time around. So it is time to say good bye…for real this time.
Even if I somehow were to miraculously get the funds to keep this website running before it goes down on October 9th(or after like the last time), I have to be honest: my heart is just no longer in it…it hasn’t been for a very long time. When I first created the website, my passion for fighting games was at an all time high, Street Fighter IV re-invigorated the genre, I discovered the FGC, and I just wanted to be a part of everything that was happening at the time but because of that, I started ignoring my passion for other things and invested the majority of my funds just for the sake of having the most accurate information on the fighting games that were out there. I came to a realization that I had essentially pigeon holed myself. Since then, my focus has completely shifted to a new YouTube channel I created and it has been difficult to look back ever since. If you look at the channel, you will see that I haven’t completely given up on my love for fighting games but it is definitely a bit of a departure from what I did here on the website.
I’ve taken everything I learned from building this website and applied it to the best of my abilities on new the channel and I will still contribute to the FGO youtube channel from time to time when I find an opportunity or feel inspired to do so.
I really do thank you all for coming and supporting the website who ever you may be. Hopefully, the way back machine on the internet archive will be a place where you can revisit some of the posts and pages I’ve created here on the website.
I’ve said this before, but I’ll say it again, this has been a labor of love and I certainly did have high hopes for the website, but things change and I’ve come to a realization that I’ve changed a great deal and it’s not right to just let this website go on without any true love in it.
So this is one last final good bye. My advice to anyone on the fence about still enjoying fighting games is just play. If you’re not having fun playing with people online, just play the arcade mode. If you’re not having fun playing the arcade mode…and other modes are available…play those modes. If you want to get better, take some time to practice. If you’re not having fun, take a break and come back when you’re ready to have fun. The whole point I’m trying to make is have fun because fighting games are fun.
