New Arc System Works Dragon Ball Z Title In Development!!!

Some exciting news has come out of Bandai Namco Japan!! Fighting game legends Arc System Works are working on a new Dragon Ball fighting game titled Dragon Ball Fighters.

So far we know that this Dragon Ball title will be going in a different direction than the Xenoverse series bringing in the traditional 2D fighting game style that we love. DBF will also feature a 3 vs 3 “team” format but there are not any specfics beyond this information.

ASW has worked with the popular franchise before with their recent title being Dragon Ball Z: Extreme Butoden on the Nintendo 3DS. We suspect that many of the ideas used in that game will transfer over to DBF though nothing is guaranteed for this new title.

The art design for DBF has been described as 2.5D though looking at the first footage of the game hints at the same technology that ASW used for their popular Guilty Gear Xrd title. Fighting game fans have waited for a very long time for these two companies to collaborate on an official fighting game for home console and now we are finally getting one.

We expect that we will see an official trailer during E3 as this news was actually slated to be revealed on June 12th. Dragon Ball Fighters is scheduled to release next year for the Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC!!
