Nintendo Switch Details Revealed!!

As promised, Nintendo has revealed full details about the Nintendo Switch which included a release date, price, hardware information, their online service, and a few game titles.

As we expected, the wait for the latest Nintendo console will not be long. The official release date will be on March 3rd of this year(EU release TBD).

Retailing at $299.99, the Nintendo Switch will come packaged with the new joy con controller, and an additional wii mote style wrist band attachment.

As you may already know, the Switch can function as both a home and mobile console but more details have been given on what you can expect from the Switch’s mobility.

The battery power of the Switch is estimated to run from 2 1/2 to 6hrs dependent upon the game your playing and has multiplayer functionality with up to 8 local wireless connections.

The Switch will have an online service which will be free to use until this Fall where things will then turn to a paid service plan.

The biggest surprise comes from the announcement of no region locking for the console. This will definitely have a positive impact on fighting games for the Switch as many players tend to import the game if it releases earlier in other countries.

There were no big announcements when it came to fighting games at the official Switch press conference, but we got a glimpse of two titles during a concluding trailer and one was later confirmed for the Switch.

What we thought to be a port of Super Street Fighter II HD Remix actually turned out to be Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers!!

This latest version of the popular Street Fighter II fighting game will feature additional characters Evil Ryu, and Violent Ken!

Like SSFHR, players will have the ability to switch between the new and original 2D sprites as well. While this is not the Street Fighter we were hoping to see on the Switch, we are certainly glad to see there is one incoming.

Dragon Ball Z Xenoverse 2 is the second title we noticed being shown through the concluding trailer, but nothing has been confirmed as yet through Namco Bandai.

Arc System Works has officially announced that a BlazBlue title will be coming to Switch as well but there have not been any additional details beyond that at this point.

The Nintendo Switch is definitely receiving some positive feed back but it is still unknown just what will be available for the console launch and beyond. We will do our best to continue coverage of fighting game titles for this upcoming console so make sure to check in with us over the next coming months leading up to the official release!!
