The Playstation Experience Rundown Part 1!!

The Playstation Experience has come to its conclusion and with it came an out pouring of exciting fighting game news!! We’ve collected as much information as we could about the things that were revealed during this weekend. So with out delay, lets get started!!

Street Fighter V

Street Fighter V producer Ono-san did his best to throw us off the scent of what every Street Fighter fan new deep in their hearts. The dark hadou master has officially returned..take a look!

The trailer reveal shows a very dexterous Akuma distinguishing himself even further from his shoto counter parts Ken and Ryu. Akuma’s V-skill mechanic gives him access to a parrying attack that allows him to follow up with two different attacks one that looks to cause an immediate knock down and the other that works as a launcher.

His V-Trigger is looking quite nightmarish as Akuma powers up into his Shin Akuma form as many anticipated allowing him to throw two air fireballs at once, throw powerful grounded fireballs, unlock his legendary Shun Goku Satsu as a critical art, and even allows him to cancel into his V-Skills during combos.

If you are not quite feeling his new look, new costumes will be available for Akuma which includes his classic nostalgia costume.

As the trailer unveiled, Akuma will be apart of the season 2 characters for Street Fighter V! Five more characters have been confirmed and it was revealed during Capcom Cup that these characters will be new to the series.

The pre-order, which includes the next 6 characters and their premium battle costumes, is now available and retailing at $29.99. Akuma will be available along with the new costumes and the premium holiday DLC on December 20th!

Balance Changes

Now that the Capcom Pro Tour is finally over, the developers are ready to make some system and character balance changes. So far we know that universal changes will affect the recovery after successful throws, strong Anti-Air light attacks, and invincible reversal reliance.

The change log will be available in a few weeks giving fans more details about what they can expect with their favorite characters.

We are a bit disappointed about the lack of characters that have been revealed for season 2 but as things are just getting started, one can hope that the possibility of more being introduced later on during next year will happen.

Marvel Vs Capcom: Infinite

It would seem that the rumors were true!! Once again, Capcom has reunited with Marvel and it looks like the series is getting a fresh reboot to resurge the masses, in other words, it’s Mahvel baby!!

The gameplay trailer above, revealed at the finale of Capcom Cup, gives us our first look at the game but Capcom has gone even further giving us a few details!!

The biggest thing to note off of the bat is the team format which goes back to 2 vs 2 game play that was first introduced in the versus series.

As the trailer revealed, a new mechanic being coined as infinity power will give players access to six powerful infinity stones that will power up your characters abilities in some interesting and unique ways.

We have already noticed that the power infinity stone looks to extend combos as we saw Ryu creating a wall bounce by activating it during his sequence of attacks. We also saw the time infinity stone allowing new comer Captain Marvel to easily teleport through Ryu attacks allowing her to follow up with a deadly super combo after.

While we still do not have all the details for game mechanics, there are certainly things that clue us into a few. Some may have noticed a bit of an absence when it comes to command assists. From what have seen in the trailer, the tag system looks to be a little more stream lined then before allowing your partner to extend combos during certain attacks.

Another thing we noticed during the trailer, which also confirmed Captain America and Morrigan as returning characters, was an interesting parry mechanic that created an opening attack that allowed for a quick and damaging tag in combo. Whether this is a special move of Captain America’s or a universal system mechanic is still in question but things are looking good so far in the gameplay department.

Once again, the Unreal Engine 4 has been used in the development of this title and it will definitely be interesting to see what they have been doing with UE4 differently from Street Fighter V.

An online mulitplayer feature has already been announced as well with confirmation of online lobbies, spectator mode, and ranked matches available for options.

PC gamers will be happy to know that Marvel Vs Capcom: Infinite will be debuting the iconic franchise officially on Steam while both Playstation 4 and Xbox One players will be able to enjoy this title on console as well!!

Surprisingly Marvel Vs Capcom: Infinite will be available sometime next year in 2017 so it looks like players will not have to wait to to long to play this new chapter in the series!!!

The King Of Fighters XIV Patch 1.10

SNK was on hand at the Playstation Experience to showcase an upcoming patch that will improve the overall look for cast members as they released a new trailer to show fans what they have in store for the update!!

Patch 1.10, confirmed as mainly a graphics and features update, has a target release date of January 2017. For those who could not attend the Playstation Experience in person, SNK will be releasing an update Demo later this month that will feature the new improvements of patch 1.10!!

We definitely can’t wait to see how our favorites have improved and hope this will convince folks to give this title a chance as it is definitely becoming a favorite within the KOF series.

KOFXIV producer Yasuyuki Oda ensures us that there is much more to look forward to beyond the 1.10 update and so far he has not disappointed so we definitely can not wait to see whats next!!

This concludes the first part of our Playstation Experience run down. Stay tuned for part two where we will be taking a more in-depth look at some of the newer fighting game titles that are still in development!!
