Fighting Game Developers Tease Plans For Next Year!!

Once again,  4Gamer has been tapping game developers for interviews with hopes that they will get a small hint as to what may be coming next year.

The crew at Arc System Works have eluded to some possible surprises with general battle director Kazuto Sekine starting things off by mentioning the ASW fighting game awards taking place next year on January 14 stating that “If you pay attention to this, I think it will be interesting in various ways.” We can only hope a new reveal will come of this.

Tosihimichi Mori, director and producer at Arc System Works had this to say about the possibility of more BlazBlue content:

“After a long time working on it, the BlazBlue series has reached a point where it can take a break… is not something I can say completely, as only the scenarios have reached a stopping point. We will still continue to liven up BlazBlue, so everyone please continue to give us your support.”

We are certainly looking forward to seeing what they have planned for the final send off in the series.

Lastly, Kyuta Yamada, director at Arc System Works is hoping to introduce something in a Nintendo Direct. The chances of this being a fighting game title are slim but one can hope.

Next we have Yasuyuki Oda producer of The King Of Fighters XIV. In addition to the 1.10 patch coming in January, Oda mentioned there were some developments outside of KOFXIV that are going along smoothly. We certainly hope for another fighting game title but we know that there are a vast amount of titles that SNK can revive like the very popular Metal Slug series so it will be interesting to see what they will reveal next.

Unfortunately, French Bread producer Nobuya Narita did not give us the goods like he eluded to last year but he at least let us know that things are not dead in the water:

“I think it’s about time we’ll see some movement on the console version of that and something that is a new-ish game.”

As some may already know, Under Night In-Birth had an update in 2015 that never made its way to console. We expect that French Bread wants the console ver. to be a little more expansive then the Arcade version offers at the moment so if you are a UNIEL fan patience may just have it reward. As for that “new-ish” game, we are still praying it is what we think it is:
