Xbox Live To Feature Cross-Network Play For Developers!!

An interesting announcement has been released by way of  ID@Xbox director Chris Charla in regards to an update for the indie development program.

In an effort to makes things more accessible and easier for independent game developers to publish their games on the Xbox One and Windows 10 OS,  ID@Xbox got feed back which ultimately lead to one feature in particular that will be available in the future, Cross-Network Play.

Cross-Network play is stated to work with “different online multiplayer networks- including other console and PC networks”.  Chris Charla did add that this new feature would be up to the game developers to support and that Xbox Live players would have the option of only playing with Xbox Live players at their discretion.

As we’ve witnessed with Street Fighter V and the soon to be released Killer Instinct Season 3, cross-platform play is starting to become a very viable option when it comes to the current generation of fighting games.

It is definitely exciting to imagine a possible fighting game that would support online multiplayer across  PC, Xbox One, Wii U and Playstation 4 and we look forward to seeing which brave soul will attempt to make this a reality!!
